Study-unit Aims

This micro-credential provides students with the opportunity to familiarize themselves to systemic principles that will support them in their work as professionals. They will be able to broaden their repertoire of skills that would enable them to reflect differently around their interventions, taking into consideration the whole family system. Students will gain further insight into their practice, and will be provided with opportunities to apply new skills as well as reflect on their development.

Learning Outcomes: Knowledge and Understanding

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

• Explain and recognise the different systemic concepts which they can apply to their work.
• Discuss and elaborate on the implications of different interventions within a systemic framework.
• Acquire insight on their own personal position as practitioners and the way this interacts within the system in which they work.
• Better define the clients’ needs within a systemic framework, whilst remaining curious about difference.

Learning Outcomes: Skills

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

• Apply the basic systemic skills learnt to their practice within their respective organisations, and the public sector, making them more equipped as professionals when working and meeting children and their families in their work.
• Practice a wider spectrum of skills in what they do, improving performance and thus rendering them more effective in their interventions, whilst broadening their perspectives to understanding complexity.
